Portland Peer Grief Support

When you lose a parent young, it can feel like you are grieving on a different timeline than everyone around you. Our Oregon group is a place for young adults in Portland and across the state to be with peers who understand that.

Our peer grief support groups are free and run by and for young adults aged 18 to 39 who have lost a parent or parental figure. There is no requirement that your loss be recent. Some people come soon after, others years later when grief resurfaces around anniversaries, holidays, or milestones a parent is missing from.

What our Oregon group offers

The group meets online once a month for an hour, guided by a facilitator who keeps the space safe and welcoming. We also organize occasional in-person activities so members can connect beyond the screen. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you like, for as long as you find it helpful.

It supports young adults in Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Salem, and other communities across Oregon.

How to join

Email Courtney Papen to join the Oregon group. They can answer your questions, talk through whether the group is a good fit, and share details for the next monthly meeting.
